A petition has been launched calling on Momentum to ballot its members on whether it should campaign for there to be a vote at this Autumn’s Labour Party Conference to call for a referendum on the final exit deal negotiated between the UK government and the EU-27.
US President Trump seems to be stumbling towards a trade war. At the same time a large section of the current UK government seems intent of crashing out of the EU without a deal.
A number of right-wing Labour figures are organising a concerted campaign to raise the Brexit issue in order to cause difficulties for Jeremy Corbyn. Working closely with Tories and Lib Dems, they are trying to use this issue to undermine Labour’s leadership.

The complete humiliation of the Tory Brexit negotiators has been greeted with wild claims that Theresa May achieved a stunning victory. Any more ‘victories’ like this and the UK will be passing rapidly from a second-tier power to a fourth-rate one.

The Labour right suffered a severe defeat due to Labour’s strong result at the General Election under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership. For the moment they are forced to keep their heads down and don’t dare to challenge Corbyn’s leadership openly. But don’t believe the right have given up the struggle to impose their support for austerity and wars. They have merely been forced to adopt more indirect tactics.
