Protecting our rights requires vigilance and protest

The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill seeks to restrict citizens’ ability to lawfully protest, and seeks to allow police increased powers to restrict the reasons for protest and the way they handle the events themselves. The police use heavy-handed tactics against women attending the vigil on Clapham Common, following the murder of Sarah Everard, is an indication of the restrictions on protest that the government wants to introduce.
