Bloody Sunday remembered – the fight for justice continues

This Sunday January 30th marks both the day and the date of the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, which took place in Derry in 1972. Fourteen unarmed Irish people were killed by British soldiers as they were taking part in a demonstration for civil rights and its aftermath. – The fight for justice continues.

The expansion of NATO is a threat to peace

There will be no end to the current dangerous impasse if the bottom line for the US is that Russia must accept NATO’s military machine encroaching further along its borders and that the people of eastern Ukraine will be denied their right to self-determination, up to and including the formation of a new state or joining Russia.

The USSR recorded giant world changing achievements, such as the defeat of Nazism, its role in destruction of colonial empires, education, literacy and many other areas. However, its post World War II economic policies led to the USSR’s collapse. It is China’s post 1978 economic policies that provide the positive economic model for socialists.
