Mémoire des luttes (Memory of struggles) expresses its profound sadness at the loss of our comrade and friend Redmond O’Neill on Wednesday 21 October. Redmond was fighting cancer for several years with all his energy.
This news will impact on all the internationalist campaigners who had the privilege to work alongside Redmond, in particular since the preparation of the European Social Forum in London in 2004, during which he represented Ken Livingstone, the then Mayor of Britain’s capital city. We also met him in all the large mobilisations of the anti-globalisation movement and in all the initiatives of solidarity with the ongoing processes of political and social transformation taking place in Latin America.
Within all the spheres in which he campaigned, Redmond’s role was often crucial, given his exceptional political intelligence and human qualities.
In these painful circumstances, Mémoire des luttes expresses all its sympathy to Kate Hudson, Redmond’s family and comrades.
