The immediate impact of the ruling as drafted would be to end a half-century guarantee of federal constitutional protection of abortion rights. It would allow each state to decide whether to restrict or ban abortion.
Oklahoma’s new bill will create a near total ban on abortion, if implemented. Plus this summer the Supreme Court will rule on Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban and is unlikely to uphold abortion rights won under Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey.
It is vitally important to recognize the vile, racist attacks against Judge Jackson for what they are and to denounce them as such.
