The UK economy remains mired in stagnation caused by the crisis of investment. The official forecasts for UK growth point to the weakest expansion in the economy in the modern era, since 1945.
This year’s local elections in Britain conclude in just over two weeks, with voters in main metropolitan areas including London, Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle as well as other urban areas across the country going to the polls.
The March visit to Britain by the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, highlighted the differences on international policies, between Theresa May’s Tories and Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour.
Jeremy Corbyn has condemned the attack on Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury, backed a thorough investigation and is urging political leaders to act with calm heads and base their response to the attacks on real evidence. Given the absence of the latter he has cautioned against a new ‘cold war’ and an escalation of military spending.
Under the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn the Labour Party is opposing the Tories’ racist agenda that scapegoats immigrants for people’s deteriorating living standards.
