The Labour Party leadership ballot closes on 21 September, so supporters of its left wing leader Jeremy Corbyn have a few days left to campaign for any remaining votes. The leadership election result is due to be announced on 24 September before Labour’s women’s conference in Liverpool, with Corbyn widely expected to win.

Get out the vote for Corbyn!

From today ballot papers will be arriving in inboxes and in the post in the Labour leadership contest. It is vital to mobilise support for Jeremy Corbyn not just by voting but also in rallies and meetings, social media and phone banking. All polling data and the overwhelming number of CLPs who were allowed to vote made nominations in support of Jeremy Corbyn. The main danger now is complacency by his supporters. The Labour right are still trying to get as many people as possible excluded from the ballot on the flimsiest of excuses.

Corbyn’s policies to raise living standards can secure victory for Labour

The attempt of the right wing to oust Jeremy Corbyn as Labour leader has had a negative effect upon Labour’s standing in opinion polls. YouGov polling on 25/26 April had Labour on 33 per cent, Tories on 30 per cent, UKIP on 20 per cent and LibDems on 6 per cent. The YouGov poll for 25/26 July had the Tories on 40 per cent, Labour on 28 per cent, UKIP on 13 per cent, and Lib Dems on 8 per cent.
