Climate Briefing: which countries are doing what
$4 Trillion sustainable development investment is needed every year. Only $1.1Trillion is taking place and half of that is by China. Wealthy countries should step up their investment to China’s level.

Grant Shapps has failed to rise to the task of making the UK government’s Net Zero Plans adequate to meet the target of no more than a 1.5C increase in temperatures by 2050, as the Government was directed to do by the High Court last September.
The latest IPCC Report is calling for the most rapid possible end to fossil fuel extraction. It states it is now imperative for developed countries to reach net-zero emissions by 2040; and 2050 for the Global South. The necessary action is not being taken. It must be taken now! Mobilise for The Big One!
1. The pace of action is slower than the rate of breakdown
2. Fossil fuel companies are embedded in the COP process
3. Gas development in Africa is “fossil fuel colonialism”
4. The West/Global North is still failing to support the Global South, prioritising war instead
5. Progress depends on countries raising and exceeding existing targets
6. The Inflation Reduction Act is an America First carbon reduction plan
7. The climate struggle is a class struggle
We need an alliance between the working class movements in the Global North with countries in the Global South demanding reparations and a recognition that socialist countries are part of the solution and this has to be forged in the struggle.
As COP27 approaches, the US is taking inadequate action to reduce carbon emissions, in Britain a new Tory government will backtrack on the current feeble plans, and the Global North is failing to honour its commitments to aid the Global South tackle climate change.
