Disabled people need support to live, not die: why the latest attempt to legalise assisted suicide should be opposed.
The material context in which legalisation of assisted suicide is contemplated is one of a retreating welfare state, reduced health and social care provision, increasing inequality and poverty and even a stalling of life expectancy and increased inequalities in life expectancy.
To normalise the idea of ending life as a response to pain, disability or terminal illness would be extremely dangerous and should not be supported.
