President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez’s message following the street protests in Cuba on 11 July. The US is trying to provoke political unrest within Cuba. At the UN General Assembly on 23 June, 184 countries voted in favour of lifting the blockade, only 2 against.

Whilst daily deaths and new coronavirus cases are rapidly rising across Latin America, Cuba has managed to reduce them down to very low numbers. Cuba’s socialist government has mobilised society to fight against the virus on the island and sent specialist health workers to other countries. Cuba is now in a position to gradually reduce its lockdown measures.
Cuba and China’s cooperation is a powerful force in the fight against Covid19 and for numerous international struggles. Socialists in every country should therefore relate very positively to this powerful combined force for human progress.
