On April 21 India registered 315,000 cases in a 24-hour period. Hospitals are running out of beds and of oxygen. Vaccines are not available at the pace necessary. This is because there has been a total failure of the Indian government, led by Modi, to take the pandemic seriously.
The West is practicing vaccine apartheid at a global level
Vaccine apartheid and support for Big Pharma are driving the policies of the rich countries. These policies will perpetuate the continuation of the global pandemic, the emergence of new variants, along with the economic crisis faced by most nations.
The global pandemic and the international class struggle
The central aim for the ruling classes of the main imperialist powers in the current crisis is not simply that public health cannot be the priority, but the crisis itself must be used as an opportunity to increase the rate of exploitation.
