China has overperformed on renewable energy development goals in the last three Five Year Plans (FYP). Already, ambitious implementation of the current FYP at the local level is boosting overperformance at the national level.
The visit to Taiwan of the Congressional delegation led by Nancy Pelosi is the latest, and by far the most serious, in a series of provocative actions by the US over the Taiwan question.
The implications of going ahead with the visit, given the repeated warnings from China that the status of Taiwan is for them an existential issue, were clear.

There is only a furious debate on the tactical issue of when to implement tax cuts.
We are now in the fourth wave of a left emergence since the Cuban Revolution of 1959. Even the mildest centre-left governments will be forced to address serious social crises. The test of these governments will be how they act when faced with the refusal by the forces of capitalism to solve these crises.
