Understanding the new Cold War
In China’s vision, there should not be a single great power that determines what happens in the world, but a multipolar world order in which countries, powerful and less powerful, decide together.

The political decision has been taken to end the war, not on grounds of morality or even cost. Instead, the US has identified a strategic enemy in China along with its Russian ally and the entire focus must be directed towards blocking its rise. This is the new number one aim and overwhelming priority of the US.
G7 countries have contributed most to climate change and it is absurd to claim that they are leading the way in tackling it. The Tory government defends continued oil and gas exploration in the North Sea. So, its message at COP26 will be “do as I say, not as I do”.
The US now faces a significant risk which can affect its geopolitical position. It is unable to carry out a ‘colour counter-revolution’ in Cuba because of the relation of forces in that country. Meanwhile US policy on Cuba is opposed by an overwhelming number of counties.
The Afghans are largely glad to see the back of the US occupation, to be one more Saigon in a long sequence. But this is not a victory for humanity. It will not be easy for Afghanistan to emerge out of these nightmare decades, but the desire to do so can still be heard.
Defeated in Syria and Afghanistan, and withdrawing from Iraq, the US and its allies are now stepping up their military provocations against Russia and China. Preventing imperialism from launching a serious military conflict is indispensable if humanity is to address the real challenges which it faces.
