Greek voters have struck a fantastic blow on behalf of all those fighting against austerity in Europe. A brilliant campaign waged by Alexis Tsipras and the leadership of Syriza united all those who want an end to austerity and to the national humiliation of living under the diktat of Brussels/Frankfurt and Washington.

Right-wing inciting a coup in Ecuador

There have now been violent right-wing protests in Ecuador for several weeks, calling for the ousting of the elected President, Rafael Correa.

The US-linked opposition has now released a new video that openly incites the police to engage in a coup, as previously happened in 2010 when five people were killed and the President was kidnapped. The video can be seen here.

Issues arising from migration, particularly immigration, are some of the most ideologically loaded questions in British politics. When these questions are related to the wars of British imperialism then the narrative becomes doubly loaded. It will then be helpful to examine the issues historically, in order to cut through prevailing prejudices.

Sinn Fein maintains its mandate to oppose austerity and defend the peace process

In the north of Ireland the election was dominated by two factors: the economic situation and austerity; and the political and peace process. Sinn Fein have been at the sharp end of the fight against austerity and in resisting Tory welfare `reform’ cuts from being implemented in the six counties. They have also been in an on-going struggle to defend the peace process and the Good Friday Agreement against an anti-agreement offensive of unionism and the Tory-led government, which has attempted to stall and roll back progress.
