Most of the main Western imperialist powers are effectively doing nothing to prevent Covid spreading. A minority opposes such government policies. Socialists need to link up with this resistance and radicalisation, to unify and broaden it.

Approaching the third year of the global pandemic, life in China is “back to normal” for most of the 1.4 billion people. There are occasionally short-term, localised lockdowns in response to local outbreaks, but there is no active pandemic within China.
This is a monumental success of a system that values human lives over corporate profits.
The approach, which involves a partial lockdown or quarantine of neighborhoods where infections are identified and the tracing of contacts of those infected, has kept the major part of the country free from the virus.
As a result, residents in most parts of the country lead a normal life without worrying about being infected.

The latest wave of the pandemic threatens to turn into an outright crisis for the Tory government. The new measures forced on it very significantly damage its credibility on an issue which affects the entire population very directly.
A Zero Covid strategy remains the only viable alternative to the current policy of ‘learning to live (die) with the virus’.
