The West is once again using the COVID-19 pandemic to whip up international hostility towards China, instead of approaching it as a common threat to humanity. This approach has dangerous consequences.
The West’s policies when confronted with Covid, compared to China’s, have been both a health and an economic disaster. There have been many demonstrations of the superiority of China’s socialist system compared to Western capitalism. The different policies to deal with Covid are the latest and one of the clearest.
The facts show clearly that in 2023, the issue is by how much China’s economy it will accelerate, whereas in the US by how much its economy will slow down. After three pandemic years during which China already outgrew the West by a huge margin, this is an extremely striking situation.
The oppression of France’s undocumented migrant population ensures a supply of cheap labour for capital to exploit. In response to this racism and super-exploitation the Sans Papiers have launched a wave of struggles and achieved some victories, and continue to fight back.
The US backed oligarchy has achieved its coup. In response to the right’s attacks, Castillo had left his party, demobilised his peasant base, refused to close ranks with the Peruvian left, given into the right’s demands and embraced the OAS and US embassy.
