The Socialist Campaign Group of MPs is calling for an end to the US blockade of Cuba and rejects the calls for foreign intervention into Cuba.
Now is the time to reciprocate Cuba’s huge solidarity and give it some genuine assistance. Some ways to contribute in Britain and North America.
The origin of the shortages, that there were protests about in Cuba, is the US blockade. However, the demonstrations in support of the revolution have been much larger.
President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez’s message following the street protests in Cuba on 11 July. The US is trying to provoke political unrest within Cuba. Working through small groups of counterrevolutionaries, the US is taking advantage of the scarcity of food, medicines and power supplies caused by its blockade of Cuba.
At the UN General Assembly on 23 June, 184 countries voted in favour of lifting the blockade, only 2 against.
The US has seen the Covid pandemic as an opportunity to step up its regime change agenda, intensifying the blockade to cut Cuba’s access to much needed medical supplies.
