The right has spent years attacking diversity, anti-racism and the idea that structural racism shapes who gets ahead in Britain. Jason Arday became perfect material for that project.
• The history of global capitalism is inseparable from the histories of slavery, colonialism, and settler colonialism.
• The Black liberation struggle — that is the struggle against the oppression of the people of non-European origin by the people of European origin — plus the struggle for liberation and Self-Determination, and the class struggle are clearly linked.
The growth of large metropolitan centres, especially in the South, has transformed the growing urban population – with more Black, Latino, Asian, progressive, and unionised voters. For the ruling class this poses a threat which requires a response – either diluting, or outright preventing these votes from being expressed.
Anti-racists and Black Liberation activists must discuss this new situation.
A counter movement has to be mobilised, building on and extending the currently existing movements.

What surrounds the 2026 World Cup is a concentrated form of how the United States conducts itself more broadly. A state that stratifies entry to its territory by race and by geopolitical alignment has staged the world’s most international event, and has carried that stratification intact into the stadium.
The far right are not exposing the tier system. They are using one tragedy to make the tier system harder to see.
What the Nowak case exposes is not anti-white prejudice. It exposes a police force that is institutionally dysfunctional and that operates without adequate accountability mechanisms.
