The resistance to the Tories offensive being led by the unions and the increasing orientation of Labour’s left wing members to this strike wave is encouraging a radicalisation within Labour.
The latest wave of the pandemic threatens to turn into an outright crisis for the Tory government. The new measures forced on it very significantly damage its credibility on an issue which affects the entire population very directly.
A Zero Covid strategy remains the only viable alternative to the current policy of ‘learning to live (die) with the virus’.
Statement from No Cold War Britain
Britain is in no position to lecture China about “human rights” or “democracy.” The truth is that, in joining in with the US’s cold war attacks on China, Britain is pursuing a dangerous course that threatens world peace, stability and prosperity.
The government’s overall policy has been to boost profits at every turn, even at the cost of 160,000 lives and rising. It has no intention of shifting course, because its entire attack on workers and the oppressed has letting the virus rip as its centrepiece.
The largest scale political and organisational attack on the Labour Party’s left wing since the Second World War is currently unfolding within the party. But despite the defeats that have been suffered the Labour left remains the largest political force engaged in resistance to the Tories’ attacks.
The Starmer group heading the Labour Party represents a thorough political degeneration of the Labour leadership. There is barely a trace of even the mildest social democracy in its political outlook.
