The election results of the first round on 20 June were widely described in the French media as a slap in the face for President Macron and his La Republique en Marche party [LREM] and Marine Le Pen’s Rassemblement Nationale [RN].

At the UN General Assembly on 23 June, 184 countries voted in favour of lifting the blockade, only 2 against.
The US has seen the Covid pandemic as an opportunity to step up its regime change agenda, intensifying the blockade to cut Cuba’s access to much needed medical supplies.
Biden has abandoned 40 years of US neo-liberalism. He is attempting the greatest change in US economic policy since Reagan. This change in economic policy will make the US a more formidable economic competitor to China.
