On 5 November Jeremy Corbyn delivered a speech on Brexit in Harlow as a key part of launching Labour’s election campaign. The following is the entire speech – leaving out only a few courtesy introductory remarks.
Jeremy Corbyn’s speech that launched Labour’s general election campaign.
If, in the present situation, Brexit passes it will unleash years of a reactionary offensive in Britain. There will be a tremendous attack on working class rights as the drive to ‘Americanise’ British society is carried out directly in coordination with Trump. That is the correct analysis the great majority of the British left has arrived at.
The formation of Boris Johnson’s hard right Cabinet makes crystal clear the meaning of a Tory Brexit. It is to subordinate Britain to a trade deal with the US in which the NHS would be up for sale, in which food standards would be cut to US levels, in which rights at work would be reduced to US levels, and in which a fundamental attack would be launched on Britain’s welfare state.
The Guardian published this letter, signed by over 200 Jewish members and supporters of the Labour Party, stating that Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour is a crucial ally in the fight against antisemitism.
Currently the foul consciously lying media campaign against Jeremy Corbyn – attempting to portray the most principled lifelong anti-racist and anti-war leader the Labour Party has ever had as a supporter of anti-semitism and terrorism – is demonstrating the truth of Marxism to hundreds of thousands of people.
