Abortion Rights believes that the US Supreme Court decision on Roe v Wade will be announced this week, either on Tuesday (today) or Thursday. It is expected that the court will overturn the 1973 ruling that guarantees the federal protection of abortion rights.
Abortion Rights is organising for protests to take place in London, Edinburgh and Cardiff on the day of the announcement.
Please note if the ruling is announced on Tuesday (today) there will be a protest at the US embassy in London on Wednesday at 7pm because of the tube strike on Tuesday.

The overturning of Roe v Wade would end a half-century guarantee of federal constitutional protection of abortion rights.
The immediate impact of such a ruling would be:
- Each state would be free to decide whether to restrict or ban abortion
- Stricter limits on abortion access will be imposed across large parts of the US
- About half of US states will immediately impose broad abortion bans
The repudiation of Roe v Wade will inflict serious harm & intensify the oppression of women.
In addition, other rights, currently protected under the US legal principal of privacy, could also now come under attack – such as the right to contraception and same sex marriage.
This assault on women will not be confined to the US. It will encourage a reactionary offensive in other countries.
Mobilise in opposition to the overturning of Roe v Wade.
The fight against the oppression of women is an international fight.
