This Sunday January 30th marks both the day and the date of the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, which took place in Derry in 1972. Fourteen unarmed Irish people were killed by British soldiers as they were taking part in a demonstration for civil rights and its aftermath. – The fight for justice continues.
There will be no end to the current dangerous impasse if the bottom line for the US is that Russia must accept NATO’s military machine encroaching further along its borders and that the people of eastern Ukraine will be denied their right to self-determination, up to and including the formation of a new state or joining Russia.
Despite being elected on a platform of ending US support for the war on Yemen, Biden is supporting the coalition, without qualification. Towards the end of 2021 the US sold $650 million worth of advanced weapons to the Saudis – helping escalate, not end, the war on Yemen.
The governments in the Western imperialist centres have almost completely given up on any pretence at trying to combat the virus. The results are catastrophic and there is no end in sight.
