The Tories have used the ‘Christmas crossing’ – the news that around 100 refugees, struggling for a better life in horrendous circumstances, made it across the channel – as a way to whip up racist scapegoating and division.
We need to challenge the lies that are being used to dehumanise people who are escaping from war and poverty to seek a better life for their families.
Refugees and migrants are not to blame for the problems created by politicians and their austerity agenda.
