In response to the overwhelming support for this issue, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign is organising a trade union conference for delegates from trade unions affiliated to the PSC. This conference will discuss how to take forward union campaigning on Palestine, and how to implement the policy endorsed by TUC Congress most recently in 2011. This policy “instructs the General Council to work closely with the Palestine Solidarity Campaign to actively encourage affiliates, employers and pension funds to disinvest from, and boycott the goods of, companies who profit from illegal settlements, the Occupation and the construction of the Wall”.
The conference will hear about the latest developments from speakers, including trade unionists, from Palestine and from the trade union and solidarity movement in Britain. Specialist strands will focus on discussion and proposals for particular areas of work – from targeting complicit firms and ending the arms trade, to building the campaign within unions at local and national level.
It will promote discussion on how we increase solidarity nationally, regionally and locally and how trade unions can help build the mass movement.
